- The New Agricultural Bills - December 30, 2020
The agricultural bill threesome was not enough. Here is another three from hell. The new labour act passed in September 2020. This year will be branded as one of the darkest years of India after independence in history if judged without bias. From every angle India is heading for dark ages, soon the whips and chains will be the flourishing trade in the country. The enslavement will start with farmers, labourers and end with rest of the country. We should already be hearing the swish of whip and clanking of chains around anklets!
Anyone who thinks that farmers and working class’s suffering won’t affect them because they don’t care about their plight, are not only selfish but really dumb. If they suffer so will the rest of the country. Just imagine what will these people do once the government legally snatches their right to feed themselves and their families!
Apparently, after covid-19 pandemic when a “servant of the masses” ardently followed by other “servants of the masses” is supposed to take care of its helpless its ensuring that they turn into slaves of industrialists. India is most probably trying to become a labour farm, where poor, workers and farmers won’t have any right, all rights will be in favour of industrialists, especially rich ones, all the while we the rest of the country will be worrying about drug intake of celebrities and whodunits of celeb worlds! Celebs whose life doesn’t affect us in any way at all! They live in their ivory tower don’t care about commoners, why don’t the commoners return them their favour and invest their energy on things that may make or break them? Ah the beckoning of silver screen! We love to chase those who don’t give us a hoot!
The three parts of the labour bill are-
Industrial relation Bill-
Read the parts of this bill and you will realize that all cards have gone to the employers, they can hire or fire, decide when to shut down their companies or discharge up to 300 workers without government approval leaving hundreds jobless. In short the factories have become playhouse, you can build one, hire people, make them work and then one fine morning without any notice shut them down. The right of strike too has been curbed short [I personally am not very much in favour of it, but quite often the demands of the workers are fair and it is quite often almost impossible to make industrialists listen forget about abide, strikes have immensely harmed work-culture but it had empowered the workers a bit, the most exploited class of society.]
The second one, Social Security Bill is of course sweet promises, many such promises has been made and have blown away with time. So let us keep this one in hold and see what the workers will get in reality!
The third bill mostly promises even more but such promises are too common and walk hand in hand with failure!
Just count how many promises have been made via five-year planning since independence and check out how many have actually been materialized you will get the idea.
The latter two are just sweet promises to sugar-coat the poison of the first bill one will think.
The workers are already protesting against 12 hour work being forced upon them, 12 hour at desk and commuting from home! Awesome and all that for pennies! The only thing missing are chains and whips! The final point is in a time like this when every worker, every person who is struggling to make two ends meet should be saved by the governments, not get thrown to wolves and lions. The first bill is downright against that sentiment! The remaining two are the sugar-coat on a bitter or poisonous pill.
